SAP Business One is SAP's ERP for small businesses and the lower midmarket. SAP reports more than 83,000 customers and 1.2 million users in more than 170 countries, supported by about 850 partners and more than 500 industry and country-specific extensions.
It covers financials, sales, purchasing, inventory, and light discrete manufacturing, with bills of material, production orders, and material requirements planning. It runs on Microsoft SQL Server or SAP HANA, can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud, and is almost always licensed and implemented through an SAP partner rather than from SAP directly. The current major release is version 10, delivered through regular feature packages, with version 11 announced for 2027.
Independent reviewers describe its sweet spot as companies with roughly 10 to 250 employees, and note that complex shop floor control, advanced scheduling, process manufacturing, advanced warehouse workflows, EDI, and multi-entity operations typically rely on partner add-ons.
That is important context. Business One is a capable, actively developed system, and for many companies it is exactly the right size. The more useful question is whether it is still the right size for yours.
