SX.e is a distribution ERP system that traces its roots to the late 1970s. It was developed by NxTrend Technology in Colorado Springs, and Infor acquired NxTrend in 2004. Over the years it moved from character-based screens to graphical and web interfaces.
Today Infor describes Distribution SX.e as part of its CloudSuite Distribution suite of products, installed and maintained by Infor in the cloud. Infor markets CloudSuite Distribution to distributors in electrical, HVAC, building materials, grocery, industrial supplies, and other sectors, and says more than 4,000 distribution companies run on Infor products.
Customers can no longer buy SX.e for on-premises deployment through Infor. Existing on-premises SX.e environments continue to be supported under Infor's lifecycle policy, under which the newest releases receive the fullest maintenance and older releases receive more limited support. No end-of-support date for SX.e has been announced.
That is important context. SX.e is a capable, proven distribution system, and Infor continues to support it. The more useful question is what your next step should be, and whether Infor's path is the best one for your business.
